01Who we are
Wex & Counsel (“Wex & Counsel”, “we”) operates wexcounsel.com and is responsible for personal information collected through it. Questions about this policy or your information should be sent to enquiries@wexcounsel.com.
02Scope
This policy covers personal information collected through this website: enquiries, recruitment applications, correspondence arising from them, and technical information generated when you browse. Information handled in the course of a client engagement is governed by the terms of that engagement, which take precedence for matter material.
03Information we collect
Matter enquiries. Name, organisation, position, work email, telephone (optional), country or jurisdiction, organisation type, the areas of support you select and your message. We ask you not to include confidential, privileged or sensitive information in an initial enquiry.
Recruitment applications. Name, email, telephone (optional), current location, area of interest, current organisation or university, current position or degree, LinkedIn profile (optional), a cover note and your CV. Please do not include sensitive personal information, identity documents or financial details.
Correspondence. If you email us, we hold the correspondence and its contents.
Technical information. When you browse, our hosting infrastructure records standard server-log data — IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps — used for security, rate limiting and fault diagnosis.
Cookies. Described in our Cookie Policy. This website sets no non-essential cookies unless you consent to them.
04How and why we use it
We use enquiry information to respond to you, to assess whether and how we can assist, and to carry out any suitability or conflict review before an engagement. We use recruitment information to consider you for current or future opportunities. We use technical information to keep the website secure and working.
Where data-protection law requires a lawful basis, we rely on our legitimate interests in responding to business enquiries, recruiting, and securing our systems; on steps taken at your request prior to entering a contract; and, for any non-essential cookies, on your consent. We do not use information collected through this website for marketing unless you separately ask us to.
05How information flows through the website
Form submissions are sent from your browser to our own server, validated there, and delivered by email to the relevant Wex & Counsel mailbox — enquiries@wexcounsel.com for enquiries and careers@wexcounsel.com for applications. CVs are validated in memory and attached to that email; the website does not store submissions or CVs in a database or at any web address.
Global Legal Intelligence headlines are retrieved by our server from third-party feeds; your browser requests them from us only. Following a headline takes you to the publisher’s website, whose own privacy policy applies.
06Service providers
We use a small number of providers to run the website, each acting on our instructions:
- Transactional email — Resend, Inc., which transmits form submissions to our mailboxes and, where enabled, an acknowledgement to you.
- Hosting — the hosting provider named in our engagement documentation, which serves the website and holds server logs.
- Analytics — none. No analytics service is currently installed. If one is introduced it will be privacy-respecting, load only with your consent, and be named here.
We do not sell personal information and do not share it with advertisers.
07International processing
Wex & Counsel supports clients across borders and our providers may process information outside the country in which you are located. Where applicable law requires safeguards for such transfers, we rely on the mechanisms available to us, including contractual protections with our providers.
08Security
We apply proportionate technical and organisational measures: encrypted connections, server-side validation, rate limiting, access to mailboxes restricted to those who need it, and no retention of form data on the web server. Our broader approach is described on our Security & Confidentiality page. No transmission over the internet is entirely risk-free, which is why we ask you not to send confidential material through an initial enquiry.
09Retention
We keep enquiry correspondence for as long as needed to respond and, where an engagement follows, in accordance with its terms. Server logs are kept for a limited period for security purposes.
Recruitment information is retained for a limited period appropriate to considering you for current or future opportunities, unless you ask us to delete it sooner or an application proceeds.
10Your rights
Depending on where you are, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its processing, to receive it in a portable form, to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, and to complain to a data-protection authority. To exercise any of these, write to enquiries@wexcounsel.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting.
11Children
This website is intended for professionals and organisations. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
12Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our practices or the website materially change. The effective and last-updated dates appear at the top of this page; we do not alter them for routine deployments.
