Responsible AI & technology use.
Wex & Counsel uses technology to support efficient, rigorous legal workflows. Where artificial-intelligence tools are used, they operate within defined confidentiality, security and human-review controls. Technology assists our work; it does not replace professional judgment, verification or accountability.

01Human oversight
AI-assisted outputs used in substantive client work are subject to appropriate human review by Wex & Counsel personnel before delivery, to the standard set for the engagement.
Technology supports the workflow. It does not autonomously determine the final professional output, and it does not substitute for the judgment of the client’s own lawyers. Wex & Counsel provides legal support services; where a matter requires regulated legal advice or reserved activities, those remain the responsibility of appropriately authorised professionals in the relevant jurisdiction.
02Confidentiality first
The use of any technology on a matter is governed by the client’s instructions, the confidentiality obligations of the engagement, applicable information-security controls and any matter-specific restrictions.
Confidential or client information is not to be submitted to systems that have not been approved for that purpose. Where a client imposes restrictions on particular tools, platforms or categories of data, those restrictions govern.
03Verification
Legal authorities generated or suggested by an AI system are not treated as verified merely because the system produced them.
Material legal citations and authorities used in substantive deliverables are independently checked against appropriate authoritative or original sources before delivery. Material factual propositions are likewise verified to the extent appropriate for the engagement.
04Client control
Clients may impose, as part of an engagement, restrictions on the use of AI, restrictions on particular technologies, specific data-handling requirements, and approved-platform requirements.
Where agreed, matter-specific instructions prevail over Wex & Counsel’s general workflow practices. If your organisation has its own AI or technology policy, we will review it at the outset and confirm how the engagement will comply.
05Data & security
Technology use operates within Wex & Counsel’s information-security and confidentiality framework, described on our Security & Confidentiality page, and in accordance with applicable data-protection law.
We do not claim independent security certifications that we have not obtained. Should verified certifications be achieved, they will be published on this website.
06What technology may support
Where appropriate and permitted, approved technology may assist with defined aspects of:
- document organisation
- document analysis
- summarisation
- research workflows
- drafting support
- contract analysis
- quality-control workflows
- repetitive legal-process tasks
In each case the output is an input to a human-led workflow, not a finished deliverable in itself.
07What technology does not replace
Technology, including AI, does not replace:
- human review
- source verification
- quality assurance
- client instructions
- confidentiality obligations
- appropriately authorised professional judgment where required
